Have you seen Pikatt Don (“flash sound”)? The day the villagers gathered at the temple listening to a radio, crying. I ate watermelon. Cold watermelon. End of war? So sad? Why? Have you heard the murmur of memories layered? They said that white heat flashed and people disappeared. They said that people jumped into a pond only to find boiling water. They said that some managed to crawl with their skin melted, flesh hanging, carrying babies … I thought I saw white flags waving in the wind.
I ate cold watermelon.
Have you felt the passages of tides past?
I eat watermelon 50 years later.
